What I got for Bayram!
For those of you who don’t already read Derya’s blog, the entire HubBubble family joined her last Friday in celebrating the end of the Ramadan fast! There was a lot of delicious food and, of course, gifts. What I got for Bayram:
Apparently I haven’t been hiding my bizarre infatuation
with large porcelain figurines as well as I had hoped.
I have named her Chi-Chi.
For those of you who haven’t yet heard the sad-but-true
tale of the real Chi-Chi, you can read about it here.
This is already shaping up to be very busy week. Arielle and I are preparing for an exciting performative-type-installation, details TBA, I’m still working on editing the poetry anthology and, in preparation for yet another project I’m still conceptualizing, I’ve been reading a lot of critical theory, working through essays by Barthes, Sontag and more, as well as skimming some of Arielle’s old contemporary art theory coursepacks from school. The project involves diagrams. Big diagrams. More on this later …
Derya, Nicholas and I went to see Yellow Swans perform at Harvest Records last night, which may be my new favorite place. Sometimes it takes a little real, live music to remind me that I am a real, live girl.

Rachel! Not much is new! I am still unemployed and going on job interviews which inevitably result in some version of this speech: “Well, you were one of our top three candidates, but we’ve offered the position to someone else.” FRUSTRATING. Fortunately my parents are willing to put me up for a bit longer. I saw that you’re in MQR, which is awesome! I miss you dude, and unfortunately I’m horrible at keeping up with people who aren’t in the same physical location as I am (and even some who are). How are YOU doing?
