It finally happened - the first A-I-R roadtrip (including BFFAEAEAE, Christina, who is visiting from NYC en route to Princeton.) Last Thursday we made our way down to Charleston and spent most of the afternoon at the ocean.
“pass the tanning butter.”
“pants-off dance-off.”
“grandpa goes to the prom.”
In the evening we strolled around town and had a nice dinner, aside from some overly salty “sea cakes.” We hit up a divey bar where we happened to stumble upon their annual “Beer Olympics” and got scared watching drunkards pour beer in each other’s mouths and drop kegs on their toes. We played some darts (East Coasters vs. Midwesterners) and the Midwesterners won BY THE WAY.

The next morning we headed back into Charleston for some French food and a short walking tour of an old cemetary.
“we’re still dead.”
“That’s right!”
It was a bonding experience, to say the least. Especially the sharing a hotel room part, i.e. “Did anybody set the alarm?”
Now we’re safe and sound, back in Spartanburg, drinking at the Nu-Way and giving Nicholas dirty looks.
“Sometimes I don’t get you . . .”
I’ll be on a blogging hiatus until next Sunday, at which point I’ll be returning from the Great Smoky Mountains with loads of pictures from a backpacking trip.
